sweet rain out my window today

rain is what I longed for today.
my dry, unsure soul needed some washing, a little rinsing.
grateful for the dark clouds, for them making me wait.
wondering when they’ll finally share.
and they do.
and the sound through the window is peaceful and anticipated and great.
quickly the rain is finished, but the trees glow green with gratitude.
even the concrete looks better.
most days i like sunshine.
but today I needed the rain.
