pushed hastily out of my heart
and onto your already weighed-down back,
came words  that tore problems open instead of offering peace.

“only what is helpful for building others up”
those words, those sacred encouragements, those tiny gifts,
are inspired by The Word, made possible by The Word.

i’m reminding me now that those building up words take more effort,
so much more love, and give so much more life.

for you and by Him i will
write
sing
speak
receive
believe
fight for
words of life.

*programming note: i’m becoming more and more fascinated with mixing creative writing + photography, so i’m hoping that this post will be the first of a series involving words inspired by photos, or visa versa. hopefully i’ll come up with a good title for the series. i welcome your input!
